Pocono Raceway in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsyvania

If your a NASCAR Fan or an Indy Car Fan the tricky triangle at Pocono Raceway never disappoints as far as action and Speed. Where else can you see 4 & 5 wide come down the 3740 foot front straightaway and go into turn one with only 14 degree Banking. Most people don't know that this track has been open since 1971. It hosted both Indy Car and NASCAR until 1989. After that it hosted NASCAR and ARCA Races until the return of the Indy Car Back in 2013. There is plenty to do at the track over the 3 day long event.
If you venture away from the track and would like to do a little fishing the Toby Creek in Blakeslee is only a few minutes away. Maybe take a ride over to Hickory Run state Park and check out Boulder Field. There are also a few Water Parks to choose from within a 20 minute drive of the Track.

Pocono Raceway is located in Long Pond Pa on Route 115 and Long Pond rd, Its about a 2 hr drive from Philadelphia and New York.

State Park and State game Lands in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania

When most people think of the Pocono Mountains I'm sure Skiing in the winter and Swimming at the community Lakes and pools in the summer come to mind. But this area is made up of some of the best Game lands,State Parks and State Forest. The area I am talking about is from Pocono Pines Pa west to Jim Thorpe. Pa. and north to Thornhurst Pa. with in this area there is SGL 127, SGL 129, SGL 040, SGL 135 and SGL 091. Then there is the Hickory Run State park to the west side and Lackawanna State forest (Pinchot State Forest)to the north side.

Hickory Run State Park is around 16000 acres. There are plenty of camping sites, a Beach area and over 40 miles of hiking Trails. There is some great trout fishing on the Lehigh River, Hickory Run, Sand Spring and good hunting in this area. Other Attractions include Boulder Field, Hawk Falls.  Snowmobiling trails are open in the winter usually after the hunting seasons. The parks main entrance is on route 534 just north of Albrightsville.

Lackawanna State Forest now called the Pinchot State Forest main entrance is on Bear Lake Road in Thornhurst Pa. There are camp sites, Hiking, Bike Trails and Picnic area. Snowmobiling trails are open in the winter usually after the hunting seasons.

The State game lands Listed above all offer good Deer, Bear and Turkey hunting and are within a 15 minute drive from Blakeslee Corners Route 115 and 940.  The Largest one in the area is SGL 127 with around 25519 acres located around Brady's Lake. Arrowhead Lakes and Locust Lake Village are two Pocono communities that border this Game Land 127, Timber Trails also borders it on the east side of route 423.

Public Lake Fishing in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania

When it comes to Public Lake fishing in the Pocono Mountains there are 2 lakes in the area of Blakeslee Corners, Both are Public Lakes for all License fisherman & fisher-woman to use. Brady's Lake entrance road is about 5 miles east of Blakeslee corners and Francis E Walter Dam entrance road is about 5 miles west of Blakeslee Corners. Both lakes offer boat launch areas and ample parking.

Brady's Lake is 223 Acres, Electric motor or Paddle only, It is a great lake for canoeing, The are all types of Pan Fish, Bass and perch to catch. If you go to the back end of the lake you will come across beaver huts and a marshy area. You can expect to see all types of wildlife, Deer, Bear, Bald Eagles,Ospreys just to name a few. Arrowhead Lakes and Locust Lake Village are two Communities that border up to Brady's Lake.

Francis E Walter Dam and Reservoir is around 80 acres, Electric and Gas Motor (10 Horse power or smaller) are Permitted. There are a variety of fish to catch from Pan fish, Walleye, Perch and Trout. Wild life is abundant, Deer, Beaver and even Bear can be seen at this Lake. There is also a picnic area to enjoy a nice lunch or dinner.
